5 Amazing New Year’s Resolution You Can Keep for More Than a Week

It's already past that time of the year but raise your hands of you have fallen prey to yet another strange nature of the human psyche - the response of the human brain to New Year resolutions. Let us give you a reality check here: There is resolve, but there is also desire; there is love, but there is also loathing; there is kindness, but there is also jealousy. With the best will in the world, we are destined for failure.

So, the solution to conquering yourself?

That's why we're here. To get your back. We'll provide you 5 of the best New Year resolutions that are a piece of cake to follow but will have a humongous effect in your life.

■1. Try to get outside for atleast 5 minutes: You don't have to try and workout if you don't have the time amidst the busy world that we live in. Just try and get out of the chair and walk through your neighbourhood while listening to some music. Not will it only burn some extra calories and break the cycle of sitting, but will also provide you mental health benefits alongside the chance to check out latest songs if you are extremely busy.

■2. Turn off your phone before bed: Your Candy Crush “wind-down” session could be keeping you from getting your best night’s sleep, but if you can just resist the temptation to check your phone for 10 minutes and truly focus on sleeping, it's guranteed that a day's workload will force you to shut those tired eyes of yours- the very thing your phone doesn't allow you to do.

■3. Add more fruits and veggies to your meals: Human beings are always sceptical about having to leave things than taking. So, instead of cutting down on junk food, add more of that goodness of fruits and veggies. If it’s an addition instead of a takeaway, you’re more likely to repeat it until the action becomes an automatic habit”. You’ll naturally eat fewer unhealthy foods not because there will be less room on your plate, but because you’re filling up with satisfying fruits and vegetables.

■4. Talk less, listen more: Raise your hands again if you feel guilty of wasting your time in checking a so-called important status update or meme someone shared on fb who isn't even aware of your existence instead of listening to an actually important thing your friend, who is sitting beside you, is trying to say to you. (And you say no one wants to be in a relationship with you? Fix yourself first). Start practicing active listening, which involves learning what the other person really wants to get across, rather than trying to make it about your own agenda. Put your phone down, make eye contact, and ask follow-up questions to better your understanding of the speaker’s point of view. When it’s clear you truly care about what the other person is saying, you’ll build your empathy and strengthen your relationships.

■5. MAKE TIME TO DO NOTHING: In a world as advanced and fast-paced as ours, it's a NECESSITY to have some "me" time. We are not going to bore you with the scientific reports and statistics of the inevitable positive results it brings but just want you to know that it actually does. We sincerely hope that you'll make an attempt to follow these amazing tips and even if you can't succeed, you won't atleast have the guilt of not trying so it's a win-win situation! But no one's saying to swallow up a mountain so start by following it one at a time or however you want to 'cause at the end of the day, it's YOUR life and yours alone to enjoy.
