Community service club activity report

With a brand-new year commencing, just recently the community service

club celebrated its initiation with a gleeful opening. The new year’s

planning and preparation began during the final days of the 2017-18

session with students wracking their brains for the purpose of discovering

several different methods for establishing and further stabilizing the

education system for the destitute children, collecting relief for annual

flood victims up north, proliferating the research work on cancer and its

cure, etc. Their combined ideas are likely to serve our community and aid

those who need it most, bringing smiles to many faces and brightening

many futures.

This is the session in its initiation. The new club formed only months

prior, has already been set in motion. The first event organized by the

committee has been a splendid success with seventeen club members

attending the 50th ‘Special Olympics’ race held on Friday, 20th July,2018.

The distance from the press club to the high court and back had been

conquered by the students of Scholastica Senior Uttara and Mirpur along

with several other prominent schools led by their respective supervisors.

The meeting, organized by government ministers, consisted of

approximately a hundred volunteers in total parading with banners and

placards with music blasting with lyrics of inspiration. They ended the

hour-long rally with spellbinding enthusiasm and satisfaction, promoting

the significance of the less abled citizens of our society, a cause that can

change many perceptions related to these underprivileged individuals

lacking mental and physical abilities, all while wearing red and white Tshirts

and caps to combat the heat wave.

In the sizzling heat, hot enough to burn away our sweat glands, it was

astounding to witness the students keeping their cool and marching

alongside their companions. The community service club serves not only

to help our community but also inspire us to do the same. We all have

much to learn from them including the need for giving back.
